The winners "The Tap Room" gives out samples of its famous Clam Chowder.
People sample Nantucket restaurants chowder under a large tent in the parking lot of A&P.
The Tap Room receives their trophy with members of the Chamber of Commerce and the president of the Nantucket Restaurant Association.
The Nantucket Chowder Festival
The Nantucket Chowder Festival was held Saturday October 18th 2003, from 2:pm until 3:30pm in the A&P Parking lot. The event was sponsored by the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce and the Nantucket Restaurant Association. There was a huge turnout of approx. 750 people this year. The island restaurants that are members of the NRA make their best Nantucket Clam Chowder. Attendees pay $5.00 and get a scorecard and go through the tent and taste all the chowder from each restaurant and writedown their top 3 favorites. Money raised goes to benifit the Nantucket Chamber of Commerce. The event is held every year and is a mix of both Nantucket locals and island visitors.
