Power Lunches Island Style- By Angela Raynor The Chanticleer In Sconset serves power lunch 'Sconset Style', Tuesday thru Sunday, Noon till Two. The generous tables flank the intimate courtyard rose garden. Executive- Chef/Owner, Jean-Charles Berruet, is a true master at the stove and an accomplished avid fisherman [Jean came to Nantucket as the personal Chef for Gourmet Magazine founder Earl MacAusland]. The wine list is Truly Amazing with fantastic gems in a variety of price ranges. The Chanticleer's List was the first on Nantucket to achieve the highly coveted Grand Award by Wine Spectator. My perfect Chanticleer lunch would begin with a glass of the "Chanticleer's Brut, Blanc de Blanc" private label from Artisan Champagne house Maison LeGras and the 'Assortiment d' Huitres'- a perfect sampling of icy cold oysters and local littlenecks. I would convince someone to order the 'Beignets de Morue Martiniquais et Aioli' and steal one or two of the pillow-like salt-cod fritters. The Poisson Grille' du Jour is beyond fresh. I simply adore the Lobster Salad, It was the first thing I ever tasted on Nantucket, or should I say in 'Sconset upon my arrival here some 18 years ago jet-lagged from Provence, talk about romance...
